Silver Lining Integrity Standards
Uncompromising Excellence
The Silver Lining Standards BUILT FOR SKIN HEALTH and LONGEVITY
Not simply formulated to moisturize.
Engineered to support skin resilience.
At Silver Lining, we focus on the biological foundations of healthy-looking skin, barrier integrity, hydration adaptability, oxidative inflammatory balance, and regenerative support.
Because resilient skin is what allows skin to remain radiant, balanced, and healthy-looking over time.
What We Leave Out by Design
At Silver Lining, every formula is intentionally developed to prioritize skin compatibility, formulation integrity, and long-term skin health.
We avoid unnecessary, high-irritation, environmentally persistent, or low-value ingredients whenever possible.
We Formulate Without
-
Added Fragrance (Parfum)
Including synthetic fragrance blends commonly associated with irritation and sensitization. -
Essential Oils
Including potentially sensitizing aromatic oils such as lavender, citrus, peppermint, eucalyptus, and strongly fragranced botanical oils. -
Drying Alcohols
Such as Alcohol Denat., Ethanol, and Isopropyl Alcohol in skin-drying concentrations. -
Harsh Sulfates
Including Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). -
Aggressive Cleansing Systems
High-irritation surfactant combinations that may compromise skin comfort and barrier integrity. -
Formaldehyde-Releasing Preservatives
Including DMDM Hydantoin, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Diazolidinyl Urea, and Quaternium-15. -
Poorly Stabilized Antioxidants
Unstable antioxidant systems prone to oxidation and reduced efficacy. -
EDTA & Non-Biodegradable Chelating Agents
Including Disodium EDTA and Tetrasodium EDTA where avoidable. -
Microplastic-Based Polymers & Fillers
Including certain persistent synthetic polymers such as Carbomer, Acrylates Copolymer, Polyacrylamide, and other non-biodegradable crosslinked acrylates used primarily for texture or filler effects. -
Artificial Colorants & Dyes
Including FD&C dyes and unnecessary synthetic color additives. -
Talc
Avoided due to purity, contamination, and long-term safety concerns. -
Unbuffered High-Irritation Acids
Strong acid systems formulated without appropriate buffering or skin-supportive balance. -
Sensitizing Botanical Additions
Plant extracts included without strong evidence of efficacy or skin compatibility. -
Heavy Comedogenic Occlusives
Commonly associated with congestion or pore-clogging in facial formulations, including high levels of Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Wheat Germ Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Lanolin derivatives, and overly heavy wax systems. -
Overloaded Active Combinations
Excessive concentrations or unnecessary layering of actives that may disrupt skin balance and increase irritation potential. -
Redundant Functional Fillers
Ingredients added without meaningful biological or formulation value. -
High-Irritation Preservative Systems
Preservatives associated with compromised skin comfort or elevated sensitization risk. -
Petroleum-Derived Mineral Oils & Hydrocarbons
Including Paraffinum Liquidum, mineral oil, petrolatum, microcrystalline wax, and related petroleum-derived hydrocarbons. -
Persistent Non-Biodegradable Silicones
Including Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Amodimethicone, and other environmentally persistent silicones where avoidable. -
PEGs (Polyethylene Glycols)
Including PEG-based emulsifiers and solubilizers not aligned with our biodegradability standards. Certain PEG ingredients may also carry concerns related to residual contaminants such as 1,4-dioxane when poorly purified. -
Microplastics
Including persistent solid plastic particles and environmentally accumulative polymers. -
Unnecessary Chemical UV Filters
In products not intended or tested as SPF formulations. -
Animal-Derived Ingredients
Our formulations are developed with a cruelty-conscious approach. -
Genetically Modified Ingredients (GMOs)
Where avoidable, within sourcing and formulation standards. -
Avoidable Gluten & Soy Derivatives
Minimized where formulation performance allows.
